Chair’s Report It has been a different and busy year for the Parish Council this year. There have been successes and disappointments. One disappointment at the beginning of the year was the unsuccessful application to the big lottery fund for the toddler/junior play equipment. Despite this, mainly through the tireless work of our clerk, we were able to go ahead with a reduced scheme. It gave me great pleasure to be present at the opening by the Mayor and junior mayor of Vale Royal. It is sad to note that some damage had been done before the official opening. The Police Community Support Officer scheme has now been in place for just over a year. Whilst there have been problems in the village, my personal belief is that the PCSO has helped alleviate them. The police can only be effective with your help. Please report incidents and pass any intelligence to them. Vandalism was a major item on our budget this year. Without having to spend this money, facilities could be improved. A seat costing in excess of £400 was virtually destroyed on the playing fields. On a brighter side the village was once again short listed for the vibrant village competition. There are many activities in the village run by all sorts of organizations big and small. Without your support these cannot thrive. Even if you unable to join their committees or offer practical support, attending fundraisers like the Crow Fair gives this support. I would like to personally thank all the support given to me in my year as Chairman by our clerk, my fellow parish councillors and the village of Moulton. Traffic Problems in the Village This was highlighted in the November issue of Moulton Parish News. Whilst there is no easy solution for parking, the issue of speeding has been addressed and a mobile speed camera was recently deployed on Main Road. Whilst obviously not very popular with those who were caught speeding, please remember that it is the law and it is our village. SLOW DOWN OR YOU WILL BE CAUGHT AND FINED. |

Best Kept Garden Competition Again, the Parish Council will be holding a competition this summer – Councillors will be touring the village during early July to identify front gardens to nominate for the finalists list which, as usual, will be judged by someone form outside the village. Let’s make it a very colourful village this summer so get planning and planting!!! |
King Street Energy Ltd. Sean Greenwood and Nicola Vose prior to the Parish Council meeting held at the village hall on Monday 14th April 2008 gave a presentation of the proposed pipeline and gas storage facility. The given reason for this facility is that the UK faces a gas shortage by 2020 and in 2015 demand could outstrip supply by 20%. Given the huge interest this subject has raised and the objections being submitted by many in our surrounding community, it was pleasing that many villagers attended and many questions were raised. The main immediate impact on Moulton will initially involve the construction of the pipeline which will ‘border’ our village. You can be assured that the interests of Moulton and our surrounding areas will be pursued by your Parish Council through the whole planning process. |
