PARISH UPDATE
October 2008
MVH

  From the Chair
P Vernon

When you receive this newsletter Christmas will not be too far away and it’s time to reflect on another successful year for the village.
One highlight has been the Crow Fair which goes from strength to strength and seems now established on everyone's calendar.
This and many other regular and one-off events and activities run by community groups are only succeeding because the village has a number of very dedicated people who work tirelessly to make them happen and make our village vibrant.
The Parish Council once again wishes to celebrate the work undertaken in the village by many individuals and community groups. The annual Citizenship Awards are to recognise ‘outstanding commitment, support and delivery of a service to the community of Moulton’. Awards are given for both an individual and for a group selected from nominations from the community.
Please submit your nomination/s for an individual and/or a group to the Parish Clerk, Elaine Beech on 01606 888015 or e-mail clerk@moultonpc.org.uk
Closing date for receipt of nominations is 31st January 2009.
In addition, the Remembrance Sunday parade will take place on 9th November and will start from Beehive Corner at 10am. Please assemble at 9.45am.

Moulton Village Design Statement
The VDS has now been finalised and will now be reported to Vale Royal Borough Council on 11th Dec 2008, and Cheshire West and Chester Executive on 10th Dec, before going for public consultation in the New Year. It is hoped that it will be adopted before VRBC ceases to exist on 31st March 2009. The team that have produced it are pleased that it has received favourable comments so far.

Annual Christmas Fair -Santa Claus is coming to Moulton
The annual Christmas Fair will take place on the 29 November 2008 in Moulton Village Hall.
Santa has promised to come at about 1.30pm. As usual, part of the proceeds will be donated to Children in Need.
At about 4.30p, the Christmas Tree will be lit on the Green next to the village hall.
There will be a brass band, with hot dogs and other refreshments available. Foradditional events in Moulton, visit the MADCA website www.madca.org.uk

Garage

Regent Street Garages
The Council is keen to improve the visual outlook of the garages area at back Regent Street for the general benefit of the village. A new plan of the area is in the process of being completed with the position of all the garages shown in the correct locations with available spaces indicated where new garages might be positioned in the future. The Council is aware that the area is not typical of the village and is in need of a major facelift. The improvements that the Council aim to put in place will, however, take a number of years to complete but the council is keen to set out a vision of what the garage area may look like in the future. Possible improvements will require that new garages be erected on a concrete base slightly raised above the surrounding ground level and conforming to specific materials of construction such as pebble dashed concrete or steel and a maximum garage height specification to give an improved profile to the area both from the back of Regent Street and Meadow Lane. Is the Council moving in the right direction? What do you think?

credit

Cheshire Neighbour's Credit Union
CNCU opened its doors in Moulton on Wednesday 24th Sept in the village hall. The Credit Union is a not-for-profit organisation sponsored by the government, the Financial Services Agency and local councils to encourage people to save. With the credit crunch hitting everybody, this member-owned co-operative is an attractive alternative to doorstep loan companies, as loans at low rates are available to savers. For more information turn up at the next meeting, find the notices at the Co-op and village hall notice boards, or call Jackie Lewis, 598041 or Sarah Polese, 869752. Future meetings will be fortnightly in the hall from 6-7pm (dates fixed from November are: Nov 5th, Nov 19th, Dec 3rd, Dec 17th 2008 and Jan 15th 2009) www.cheshire-neighbours.co.uk/

Moulton British Legion
As a member of the British Legion Branch committee (separate from the BL Club committee) it is felt that the Branch would benefit from an influx of new younger members to take the BL forward into the new millennium.
This very worthwhile organization is deserving of support to help those Service men and women who have given so much to this country of ours over the years.
Anyone interested in joining the Branch or its Committee should contact a member of the current Committee who are Geoff Crompton (Secretary Moulton BL Branch) Renee Bennett, Arthur Birchall Dave Hough, Eve Kenyon and Jim Yarwood

Old Friends
Meet every other Tuesday afternoon between 2.00pm and 4.0pm. Games such as cards, scrabble, dominoes etc are played before the break with a game of prize Bingo afterwards. Again the Committee organises trips out and meals during the year. Meetings however have to be cancelled whenever a play is due to be performed.
Coffee and Chat
Meet every Thursday between 9.30am and 11.00am in the Village Hall for an hour and a half of good company and chat.
The Committee also organises trips out and meals during the year. Meetings are also curtailed during the week when a Drama Group play is staged in the Hall. Subs are 50p per week.
Moulton Adventure Group (MAG)
As you may know, over the past few years Geoff Crompton has written a couple of books of dedication to the men of Moulton who died in both world wars.
He has now written a third book but this time in a lighter vein. The book is entitled “30 Years of Camping with the Moulton Adventure Group” and catalogues the 30 annual camps from 1970 to 1999.
It abounds with pictures of those who attended, camp scenes and much more. In particular the book contains over 100 stories, mostly humorous, involving both members and staff.
The book can be purchased from Moulton Post Office, Moulton Co-Op and from Geoff himself (01606 76818) as well as from VRBC at 1, the Arcade, Northwich. Cost is £6.00 with all profits to be split evenly between the NSPCC and MAG.
Moulton Crows Supporters Club
A yellow Crow Badge has been given to all Moulton Crows past and present, with each individually dated. Many thanks to all those who purchased a blue 2008 Crow Fair Badge as the proceeds all go to further green Crow Fair and yellow Crow Badges for 2009.
